APPROACH BY AIR
AIR BUS – 320 operated from Islamabad on daily basis. It takes hardly 45 minutes to reach Skardu from where it only takes 12 minutes to reach SHANGRILA. PIA has planned direct Flights from KARACHI-ISLAMABAD-SKARDU and LAHORE-ISLAMABAD-SKARDU.
En-route, you fly over the beautiful lush green KHAGHAN VALLEY. Aircraft makes a right turn as soon as it crosses Babusar and in five minutes you see the killer mountain the NANGA PARBAT which is 26660 feet above sea level and is in HIMILAYAN RANGE. After crossing NANGA PARBAT, you take a glance of TRICH MIR, the highest peak in HINDUKUSH RANGE. GILGIT CITY can also be seen overlooking RAKAPOSHI PEAK. This is where mighty KARAKOROM RANGE starts. On a clear day one can see the MAJESTIC K-2, the second highest peak in the world. You could also witness the longest glaciers in the world.
Before descending, passengers sitting on the right side of the airplane can see the DEOSAI PLATEAU; the second longest, widest and highest plateau in the world, in the HIMILAYAN RANGE. You will also have a glimpse of your destination the SHANGRILA RESORT HOTEL.
How to get access to Shangrila Resort via flight?
Shangrila Resort is accessible by air or road. There is a daily 45 minute flight from Islamabad to Skardu where you will fly over Kaghan Valley , Gilgit and witness the famous Rakaposhi Peak , the 2 nd highest mountain in the world,-K2 , Nanga Parbat , the 9th highest mountain also known as the “Killer Mountain”, Tirich Mir , the highest peak in the Hindukush range, you will also get a bird s eye view of the resort before you land at Skardu airport.

THROUGH THE KARAKORUM HIGHWAY
Leave early from Islamabad, driving on the newly built Karakorum Highway passing through Abbottabad, Mansehra, Thakot, Besham, Dassu & Chilas following the mighty River Indus you reach at our other property Shangrila Hotel in Raikot by the evening. Take a night break and next day, after having your breakfast leave for SHANGRILA, SKARDU. Don’t forget to fill up your tanks and carry snacks and mineral water with you.

THROUGH BABUSAR PASS
From NARAN over BABUSAR PASS. The PASS opens for traffic in mid-May and is sometimes delayed due to excessive snowing. Prior to your trip, you need to check the road condition and plan your trip accordingly. Driving time from ISLAMABAD TO NARAN is 6 hours. On your way to SKARDU you will pass JAGLOT from where you may fill up your tanks and stock snacks and mineral water.
JOURNEY BY ROAD:
The journey by road to Northern Areas of Pakistan is adventurous and spellbinding. You will have to start the journey from the Motorway and follow the road to Abbottabad , Mansehra to the Khaghan Valley . The route ascends steeply following the famous River Kunhar. The beautiful Lalusar Lake can be seen on the left hand side .You then drive through the famous Babusar pass at a height of 14000 feet entering the Gilgit /Baltistan Region turning right on the Karakorom Highway (KKH) The route of the KKH traces one of the many paths of the ancient Silk Road. It is also known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, a true marvel of engineering. There are more than 50,000 pieces of rock art all along the highway. The carvings were left by invaders, traders, and pilgrims who passed along the trade route, as well as by locals. The earliest date back to between 5000 and 1000 BC.
You drive onto Shangrila Fairymeadows Raikot Inn at Raikot Bridge for a night stop.
